SEPTEMBER 4 READING…JOB 25-27 & PSALM 26 & COLOSSIANS 3
Words alone do little to help others. Words of truth and expressing love are empty if not accompanied by corresponding action. Job asks Bildad, who had all the “words of wisdom and truth”, if he had ever actually helped someone in need, someone who was powerless, or did he just throw words at them. People, like Bildad, put even people of integrity on the defensive. They spout words without caring about the person, or their pain. The Psalmist reminds us that ultimately people can and will say whatever they want about us, we just need to be sure we walk before God with integrity…because it is God’s evaluation that matters. In Colossians, Paul tells us to walk in the Spirit, rather than in our carnal flesh. We are no longer what we once were…we are made new in Christ…so we are called to walk in the person He has made us. And above all things we are to put on genuine love for one another…remembering that love never just speak—love does.
