SEPTEMBER 30 READING…1 TIMOTHY 6
How we treat those who work for us, and with us, speaks volumes about our character. It also displays that we understand the awesome truth that the Creator of the universe considers and cares for us. Paul closes his first letter to Timothy by restating the importance of truth and biblical doctrine. Those who teach otherwise are proud and ignorant…but they love getting into disputes over semantics causing envy, strife, and reviling. These are involved in the useless wrangling’s displaying their corrupt minds…for they are destitute of the truth. We are to withdrawal from these kinds of people. God has called we believers to contentment based in godliness. We brought nothing into this world, and we will take nothing out. To get seduced by riches in this life leads to setting one’s self up for temptation, and will ultimately lead to self-destruction. The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. We cannot love the Lord like the Bible commands and love money at the same time. We are to pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and gentleness. We are to fight the good fight for truth…and not be intimidated by the godless who oppose and hate God. If God has blessed you with a great abundance, remain humble and do good with what the Lord has given you. Finally, we are to guard what God has given us…the gifts and truth of God are precious and need to be guarded against those who would attempt to destroy or pervert them.
