SEPTEMBER 26 READING….1 TIMOTHY 4
Time is short…it won’t be long until Jesus returns. In these last days things will grow worse and worse, making right now the time to put your trust in Jesus as Savior and Lord. Paul tells us that many will depart from the faith, the word that this describes is apostasy. Our world, the religious world, and many pulpits are filled with these apostates. They are not listening to the Spirit of God, but to deceiving demonic spirits…and teaching the blasphemous doctrines of demons. The LGBTQ agenda being taught in many churches is demonic…the pro-abortion agenda taught by many pastors is demonic…and the rejection of biblical authority and doctrine is demonic. These apostates are hypocritical liars, whose heart and soul are seared by their rebellion toward God, and their rejection of Jesus. Paul encourages Timothy, and all pastors, to instruct the church in sound biblical doctrine and truth. To stay away from profane teachings and worthless fables. Paul then encourages the pastor to walk in the giftedness that was given to him by the Holy Spirit. The pastor needs to be an example of biblical Christianity in his conduct. The pastor is responsible to teach/preach sound biblical doctrine…he has nothing else to teach. The pastor needs to be totally committed to the Lord and the call of God on his life. Finally, the pastor must be on his guard that both his actions and his teachings are based in Scripture. Time is short…the church and the world needs pastors who will not compromise their call or the Word of God. And each person, if they have not yet done so, need to put their faith and trust in Jesus alone so that they can know the forgiveness of sin and have the promise of eternal life.
