SEPTEMBER 26 READING…JEREMIAH 1-2 & PSALM 28 & 1 THESSALONIANS 1
Our existence is no accident…before we came into existence the Lord knew us and had a purpose for us. Have you ever set down and just gone over your life, from when and to whom you were born, through the different events in your life, to where you are now? If you have done this, can you see God’s hand in everything you have experienced? Can you see how He has put you in various places and situations to bring you to where you are today? Can you see God’s purpose being fulfilled in your life? Jeremiah reminds us that our lives are in the Lord’s hand…and nothing we go through is a waste, nor is it a surprise to Him. We also need to see that our lives and our experiences have a greater purpose than just self. He has created us to make an eternal difference. The Psalmist reminds us that we will face opposition, but that God us greater than those who oppose us, He can even turn our foes into our allies. Paul, sends his first letter to the church at Thessalonica commending them for the zeal of their faith, and encouraging them to continue to grow in that faith. He reminds them that they were once worshipers of idols, but now are genuine followers of Jesus Christ. We were born at the will of God…we have experienced life at God’s pleasure…and now we are called to be always responsive to Him, that He would touch eternity through us.
