SEPTEMBER 17 READING…HOSEA 8-11 & ROMANS 12
God expects that His people will act like His people. He changes us on the inside, and when that change happens it always changes us on the outside. Our actions reflect who is in control of our lives. When the Spirit is in control, our actions reflect Christ…we do what is right and godly. When we walk in the flesh, or give into temptation, we will act contrary to the ways of God. This is what Paul was telling us in Romans 12. A changed heart brings changed living. In Hosea the people of God chose to live in apostasy, as they lived contrary to the laws of God…this brought the judgment of God upon a whole nation. Though God judged them, He still loved them, and promised a day of restoration. God loves us and would much rather demonstrate that love through His blessing rather than His discipline. But, if we live in opposition to His way and will, because He loves us He will bring correction. If a people totally reject Him, He will bring judgment.
