OCTOBER 3 READING…2 TIMOTHY 3
Two thousand years ago Paul spoke about the times we are living in right now… “perilous times”. People would be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying the power of the true God. Paul says that we are to turn away from these kind of people…that is not join them and stand against them. These are not good people, their goal is to use the gullible, and then destroy them. They claim great knowledge in truth, but walk in ignorance. They are like the priests who opposed Moses…they have corrupt minds and they are not part of the faith, regardless of their claims otherwise. As for us, we are called to continue in sound biblical doctrine, walk in Jesus, be patient, love one another, persevere under persecution, knowing that the Lord is our deliverer. Don’t think it is strange that there is opposition, and even persecution, as we follow Jesus…He said it would be this way. Things will not get better…evil men and women will grow worse and worse. These deceivers are the most deceived people on the earth. We must continue in truth in this world that has rejected that truth. And we can be confident in the truth the Lord has given us, because all Scripture comes from God, and is all that we need to live as the genuine followers of God.
