OCTOBER 28 READING…EZEKIEL 4-7 & GALATIANS 2
The people that were taking captive with Ezekiel were taken in the second siege of Nebuchadnezzar on Judah. When they left the Temple still stood, and Jerusalem was intact. They had false prophets telling them that nothing would happen to the Temple or Jerusalem, and that they would soon return back home. Imagine how hard it would have been for them to hear what Ezekiel was saying…not to mention, how hard it was for Ezekiel to have to say it. Of course the people would listen to the false prophets telling them what they wanted to here. Ezekiel told them that God was going to judge Israel for their sin, disobedience, and idolatry. Ezekiel displays for the people the final siege that would destroy the Temple and Jerusalem. The Lord has always given a prophetic warning before He brings judgment…He has done that for us in His Word. Sadly, just like the people of Judah, few will listen and heed the warnings from the Lord. Paul in Galatians tells us that the true Gospel is worthy of defending. It not just that we might be right, but that we get it right…people’s souls hang in the balance. The ministry of apologetics, is how we defend the Gospel, and the whole Word of God. We need to know the truth, and as we do, we will be able to identify that which is false. Paul reminds us that it is Christ’s sacrifice, not any attempt to keep the law, that makes us right with God, and brings us salvation. Sadly, today there are several groups in great error, telling people that one must trust in Jesus and keep the OT law…these people are teaching a different gospel.
Please share your thoughts.
