OCTOBER 24, 2024 ~ A WALK THROUGH THE NEW TESTAMENT

OCTOBER 24 READING…HEBREWS 10

The temporary sacrifice in the Old Testament times could not make anyone permanently right with God…thus the need for the once and for all permanent sacrifice of Jesus Christ. This may surprise many professing Christians, but the law could not and cannot make anyone right with God. The law does not make us right…the law reveals what we are like. The law reveals to immutable truths…it reveals the holiness of God, and it reveals the unrighteousness of mankind. Neither the blood of bulls or goats could take away sin…nor could any of us possibly live up to the perfection of the Law of God. The law cannot save, it never could…all the law could do was condemn. Only the grace of God through the sacrifice of Jesus can bring anyone salvation. Does this declare that law bad? Of course not, the law is perfect...the problem is that we are not. Now the Jesus has paid for our sin, He has opened for us the access to God the Father. As the curtain was torn between the Holy Place and the Holy of Holiness when Jesus died giving access to all who belong to Him, we also have no barriers that keep us from coming into the presence of God. Now that this has been made possible by Jesus, we are called to draw near to God…and hold fast to what we have been given…being careful to not draw back and return to former things. It may seem easier to go back to religion, ritual, and works of the flesh…but it is not better. We have all we need in Jesus, why would we ever leave Him and go back to things that are powerless to make us right with God?

Please share your thoughts.
