OCTOBER 23 READING…HEBREWS 9
All the instructions that the Lord gave Moses in building the Tabernacle, which later became the Temple, are pictures of the eternal. While they were here they were used to perform the ministries before God. The design of the building was to reveal the holiness of God…and show the sinfulness of mankind, and how a sinful people could actually come before a holy God. The services performed in the Tabernacle/Temple were temporary, in that they could never make a person eternally right with God…only Jesus could do that. Think about this with me…if the ritual in the Tabernacle/Temple could make mankind permanently and eternally right with God, there would have been no need for Jesus to come and die on the cross and rise from the dead. The earthly sanctuary shows us the eternal heavenly sanctuary. The High Priest would have to go in once a year, every year, to pour the blood on the mercy seat for the sin of the people. Now, Jesus has entered into the permanent heavenly sanctuary and to offer what He did on the cross…once and for all. Jesus’ death was necessary…for without the price being paid by His blood (death), there is no forgiveness of sin. Jesus, one man, suffered alone for the sins of all…but effectually only for those who believe.
Please share your thoughts.
