OCTOBER 21 READING…DANIEL 1-2 & PSALM 136
Today’s reading ought to be a real challenge to us. I am going to ask us all a question…”How real is our faith?” Would we still be faithful, and follow God if we lost everything? What if they took our freedom? How about turned us into a slave? Then what if they changed our identity, and made us forsake all we had ever learned to be true, and replaced it with their “truths”? Then what if we knew that there was no hope of our situation changing for decades? Finally, what if we could look into the future and see that the world would be run by the ungodly, culminating sometime in the distant future with all mankind’s endeavors being destroyed? Do we have the faith of Daniel? Do we have the faith to follow Jesus no matter what? And of our answer is yes, we will follow Him…what kind of attitude will we have as we follow? Will we trudge through, feeling sorry for ourselves, just making it through? Or will we be like the Psalmist who expressed his praise to the Lord, and told the Lord how thankful he was for all the blessings. It’s is easy for us to be thankful when everything is going great, but will we be thankful when it all falls apart? Pray for each other’s faith…stand in the Lord now while things are relatively good, for if we don’t stand now…we certainly not stand when it all falls apart.
Please share your thoughts.
