OCTOBER 18, 2024 ~ A WALK THROUGH THE NEW TESTAMENT

OCTOBER 18 READING…HEBREWS 6

The writer in Hebrews calls us to go deeper. In this chapter he speaks of the impossibility to crucify Jesus over and over again. That being the case, the deeper understanding here is that one cannot lose their salvation, for if the could they could not ever be saved again. Someone might ask, “Can a person walk away, or renounce their salvation in Christ?” My answer always is, that is a thing you don’t want to do to find out. If they could do that, then once again they could never be saved again. The writer is calling us on to perfection our walk…that our walk as believers matches our eternal standing in Christ. This walk of faith produces the works of God through us. It is at the place of surrender that God really begins to work through us producing His good works. This is not a call to be lazy, but a call to be actively living in Christ daily. Because we are all sinners it was necessary for Jesus to come and sacrifice His life for us…for there is no other way for us to be saved. And, His sacrifice of Himself is greater than our sin…otherwise our sin could not be covered, paid for, or forgiven. Thank you Jesus for your one time sacrifice on the cross so that we might know the forgiveness of our sin and eternal life.
