OCTOBER 12 READING…TITUS 3

Paul tells Titus to remind the church to be subject to those who have authority over them…rulers and authorities. They are to ready for every good work that the Lord has appointed for them. We are to not speak evil of no person, be peaceable, gentle, and showing humility to all. We are to remind ourselves that we were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving our lusts and pleasures…we lived in malice, envy, and hate. But it was the kindness and goodness of God that appeared to us by the love of God through Jesus. We are to remember that it was not our effort, or good works…but the work of the Holy Spirit that brought us to salvation. God has made us right, by pardoning us through His Son, Jesus.

We are called to submit to the faithful truths that come from God, and to believe in God, we are to maintain the good works we have been called to. These are the works of the Holy Spirit done through us…they are not doing good things in order to prove our acceptability to God. We are to avoid foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions, and arguments about keeping the law…for these things are useless. We are called to reject the ones who cause division, after we have given them warning to stop. These people are warped and sinning…they are self-condemned.
