NOVEMBER 8, 2024 ~ A WALK THROUGH THE NEW TESTAMENT

NOVEMBER 8 READING…1 PETER 3

It is interesting that chapter 3 of 1 Peter begins with talking about marital relations and closes by talking about suffering…a little ecclesiastical humor. Peter repeats Paul’s admonition to husbands and wives. Wives are to respect their own husbands, even if they are non-believers…and they are to live a life of quiet faith, so that their genuine faith might win their husband to Christ. Husbands are honor their wives, to love and protect them…this has a great impact on their prayer life. We are all to have compassion on one another…and not returning evil for evil. As we bless others, we are also blessed. When suffering comes, make sure that the suffering is because we have done right, rather than wrong. There is a blessing that results from suffering for righteousness sake…but there is no reward for suffering when we do wrong. Our great example in this is Jesus, who doing nothing wrong, suffered more than any man who ever lived. He is the just and righteous One…who willingly suffered for we unjust and unrighteous ones. He did this that we might have an eternal home with God in the heavens.

Please share your thoughts.
