NOVEMBER 8 READING…EZEKIEL 29-31 & 1 TIMOTHY 5
Where do you run when the Lord brings either His discipline, or His judgment? The short answer is…”There is nowhere to run, there is nowhere to hide”. Judah thought that there was security in going down to Egypt…Ezekiel told them that Egypt would also fall. This is the time when the king of Judah called Jeremiah in and asked him to inquire from God if they ought to flee to Egypt. Jeremiah responded that the Lord said to stay in Judah and they would be safe. Of course, they didn’t listen a fled to Egypt, only to find greater trouble. Egypt had no power against the Lord’s decree or power. Judah should have known better, as their history revealed that God is greater than Egypt. One cannot run from God…He knows where we are, and He knows what we have done. Our only option is to humble ourselves before God, ask for forgiveness, repent and walk the way of the Lord. Paul tells us to treat each other with respect and honor. To take care of those who are widows indeed…meaning widows who have no family to take care of them. We are instructed to honor pastors/elder, supply their needs, and do not receive an accusation against a pastor/elder, without two eye witnesses. Paul also tells the church not to treat sin in a casual manner…nor to ignore the one(s) sinning.
