NOVEMBER 7 READING…EZEKIEL 27-28 & 1 TIMOTHY 4
How would you like to be the human personification of Satan? We have had a few in history…Antiochus Epiphanes, Judas, Nero, Hitler, and several more. Ezekiel speaks prophecy against Tyre, and the Prince of Tyre. Notice at the beginning of chapter 28 he addresses the “Prince of Tyre”, and then in verse 12 he changes the title to the “king of Tyre”. In the first part of the chapter Ezekiel is speaking of the political leader of Tyre…in the second portion he is not speaking of a human at all. He calls this being…perfect, full of wisdom and beauty…this being was in Eden…this was an anointed Cherub…who dwelt on the Mountain of God and walk among the fiery stones…there until iniquity was found in his heart. In this portion of the chapter Ezekiel is speaking of Satan. Satan, who walk in the innermost throne room of God, the one who covered, but he was filled with pride and iniquity was found in his heart and he, along with one third of the angels who followed him, were cast out of heaven. This whole passage reveals how Satan has gotten into the hearts of leaders down through history…these despots have done his bidding, and his evil work. It continues today, and there is one more coming who will be greater than all these human instruments of Satan…he is Antichrist. The Antichrist will use deception and false teachers to gain control. Satan already has these false teachers on the earth and in the church. Paul talks about how they will deceive and control people…” with flattering words, and by tickling their itchy ears”. These false teachers will tell people what they WANT to hear, not what the NEED to hear. Paul instructs the true teachers to stay the course in these dark days…to speak the truth…and to walk in the Spirit. God has gifted us all, but for the teacher/preacher of God, he must not neglect this gift God has given him.
