NOVEMBER 5 READING…EZEKIEL 23-24 & 1 TIMOTHY 2
If we are aware and wise, we will learn from what others do and what their consequences are. Ezekiel gives an illustration of two harlot sisters. One is Israel, the other is Judah. Judah should have learned from how God punished Israel...but they didn’t. Israel played the harlot with false gods, and Judah did the exact same thing. Even when God punished Israel, and scattered them, Judah did not learn, or change. The prophets warned Judah that what happened to Israel would happen to them, and even worse. Yet, Judah refused to repent. God is warning our world…and yet, for the most part, people are not only ignoring God…they are mocking and blaspheming Him. They claim they don’t need God…soon they will find out what that means. Paul instructs us to be people of prayer…and to pray for those in authority over us. We don’t do this because we agree with our political leaders…we do this because God has called us to do this. Paul then talks about proper order in the church. Mankind, and even the church, gets themselves into trouble, and messes things up when they try to do things their way, instead of God’s way. Look at the mess in the church in the world today.
