NOVEMBER 28 READING…2 JOHN
This short letter from John is written to remind the church to walk both in truth and in love. For we believers this is always what we are called to. Sadly, there are some that believe they can walk in “love” apart from truth…or in “truth” and not in love. Biblically, love without truth is not love…and truth without love is not truth. John tells us that love is seen in we believers walking in the commandments of God. The world wants you to believe that love is merely a feeling…no, we decide to love, and we decide to stop loving. Love is always seen in our actions…not in how we feel about something. Love does touch our feelings and emotions…but love is not created by our feelings or emotions. Love is a decision we make to walk in the way of the Lord, and as we walk in His way, we share His truth in our lives and by our words.
John calls false teachers in the church deceivers. These deny the fullness of who Jesus Christ is…they deny either His Deity, or His humanity. These people are deceivers and are antichrist. It really is very simple to tell these individuals for what they are. Anyone who does not teach and live the biblical truth about Jesus is not from God. Those who teach and live what the Bibles says about Jesus have both God the Father, and God the Son. If anyone comes teaching a different doctrine about Jesus, don’t greet them, don’t bless them, don’t even invite them into your house…for if you do, you share in their evil.
