NOVEMBER 19, 2024 ~ A WALK THROUGH THE NEW TESTAMENT

NOVEMBER 19 READING…1 JOHN 2

The Scripture was given to us for several reasons. One of the primary reasons that John states is so that we do not sin. The Bible instructs us in righteousness, and everything we do contrary to that instruction is sin. It is true that none of us is perfect in our walk of righteousness, so we have an Advocate in Jesus…an advocate is one who stands up for us. Jesus always stands up for those that belong to Him, even when we sin…but He will always call us out of that sin. The proof that we actually know Jesus, is that we follow and obey His commandments. Someone who claims to know Jesus, and then willfully and continually breaks His commandments, is a liar. John reminds us of the everlasting command of loving one another. We are able to love one another in the way the Bible commands as we walk in the light of Christ. The love we have for one another is another indicator that we are walking in the light of God. We are called not to love the world, that is this world’s system and this world’s way. Again, if we love the world and the things of this world, then the love of God is not in us. We cannot split our affections between God and this world. God will not share His place in our lives with anyone or anything. John reminds us that the Antichrist is on the way…and that the spirit of antichrist is already and always among us. The antichrist is those who deny that Jesus is the Christ, and that Jesus and His Father are one. We have been redeemed and have been given the Spirit of God…so, let walk in the purity of life that reflects the salvation and relationship we have with God.
