NOVEMBER 15 READING…EZEKIEL 40 & ACTS 4
Two places in the Scripture we have the measuring of the Temple. In Revelation, John is instructed to measure the tribulation Temple, leaving out the outer court, for it is overrun with gentile unbelievers. In Ezekiel we have what has been, arguably, described for us as the Millennial Temple. This is an interesting description, and has things happening that bring into the discussion as to whether this passage chronologically follows the information in chapter 38-39, or if it speaks of the time to come after the captivity is over, and the second Temple is built. Because of the sacrifices described those who hold this to be the Millennial Temple would have to see the sacrifices as memorial in nature…which is a difficult position, because the Bible teaches that once Christ died, the sacrifice was complete. It makes more sense that Ezekiel is seeing the rebuilt Temple in his vision, and it would be complete by the time of Christ’s first coming, with the sacrificial system fully enacted. Acts 4 begins with Peter and John the are taken into custody for preaching the Gospel of Christ. After being questioned they are commanded to cease preaching about Jesus. They stand on the fact that they are to obey God, rather than obey man. We see the church developing and growing as the chapter ends. The church takes care of each other. They share of what they have with one another…and they made sure every need was met. This was the church being family in the best way possible. We are the church in our day, and we are called to be family, meeting the needs of each other in the body of Christ.
Please share your thoughts.
