NOVEMBER 13 READING…2 PETER 1
We just read in 1 Peter about believers dealing with problems that come from outside the church, from a world that rejects Christ and hates His church. 2 Peter deals with problems from inside the church…yes there are issues, problems, and conflicts that find their way into the church. The church is filled with people, redeemed people, but people nonetheless. If the church is going to be healthy it must be growing…this is not a call to more people, but to growing in the faith for those who belong to the faith. Peter tells us this growth is a process…it begins with virtue to which we are to add knowledge…to knowledge we add self-control…then perseverance…then godliness…then kindness…and to kindness love. These are to abound in we believers…there is something wrong in a church and and individual Christian’s life when this kind of growth is not happening. Peter reminds us we know these things, and all truth because of God’s Word, which has been given to us. God’s Word is eternal, and completely true. It is not subject to any private interpretation…but the same Holy Spirit who gave it to those who penned it is to be our Teacher and the Revealer of God’s eternal Word to us. These truth shared in this chapter would solve most of the issues, problems, and conflicts in the church…if we would just follow them.
Please share your thoughts.
