NOVEMBER 11 READING…1 PETER 4
Jesus suffered in the flesh to free us from the power of the flesh towards sin. Peter tells us that because the Lord has done this for us, we should no longer live like sinners. Every writer of the New Testament epistles has the same them in their books. Jesus, Himself, said…” Why do you call me Lord, and not do what I say?” Don’t be surprised that the world does not understand why genuine Christians won’t or can’t embrace what the world embraces…we cannot accept those things that are unacceptable to God and be followers of God. Peter then tells us that we are moving closer to the end of all things, and then he tells us how we are to live as the end draws near. First, we are to be watchful in our prayers. Second, we are to have a fervent love for one another …that is for fellow believers. Third, we are to be hospitable to one another without grumbling. Fourth, we are called to walk in the giftedness that has been given to us by the Holy Spirit. Fifth, when we speak, we are to speak God’s truth and teach the doctrines of God. Sixth, as we minister to others, we are to do so with the things that God has supplied us. In other words, as the end of time draws near we are to be doing what we have all been called to do all along. As we walk in Christ in this sin-fallen world we should not think it strange the trials that will come our way and that we will have to walk through. We need to so live in Christ so that if we suffer it is because of our faith. As we do, we commit our eternal soul to our Creator…if He has our soul, there is not a thing the world can do to us.
