NOVEMBER 11 READING…EZEKIEL 35 & OBADIAH 1 & PSALM 108
In the New Testament Paul reminds us that vengeance belongs to the Lord…it is the Lord who will repay anyone who harms His children. It is important for us to understand this, for the Lord is perfect in His knowledge, and in His justice. If we seek our own vengeance, we may go too far…or we might even fail to bring about full justice. God will take of His own, in His own way, and in His own time…and it will be perfectly what it should be. Our reading today in Ezekiel, Obadiah, and Psalm deals with issues that had been going on with Israel and Edom since Esau and Jacob. The descendants of Esau treated the descendants of Jacob with disdain, refusing to help them in their time of need, and even brutally killing the children of Israel. Both Ezekiel and Obadiah speak of God’s judgment against Edom…and the Psalmist praises God for His justice. God will always take care of His children…stay close to Him in order experience His help and justice.
