MAY 30 READING…ACTS 20
What if you knew that your destination would bring your imprisonment? What if you were convinced that God was leading you to a place that would be the beginning of the end of your life? What if, knowing these things, you had the opportunity to decide not to go into the place of danger? Would you go? Would you reason that there must be other places of service to the Lord that would not cost me everything? How do we all measure where we will go, what we will do, and whether we will speak the Gospel? I will always remember, many years ago, hearing Charles Stanley say to a group of young pastors…” Brothers it is your call to preach the word, let the chips fall where they may…the chips belong to God.” Paul is in Macedonia, feeling led by the Holy Spirit to travel to Jerusalem. The same Spirit that was leading him to go to Jerusalem has also told him that chains await him. Paul understood that going to Jerusalem would lead to his imprisonment and eventually his death. This would divert most people from going, but Paul knew this was the leadership of the Holy Spirit in his life. Paul believed there were bigger things that took priority over his life. He was willing to follow the Spirit of God regardless of the cost…this was not a theoretical exercise for Paul, this was his everyday walk. God help each of us to clearly hear His voice, and follow Him wherever He leads us. Let’s not look toward the supposed outcome…let’s look into the beautiful face of our Lord who has sent us.
Please share your thoughts.
