MAY 28 READING…ACTS 18
In our readings Paul continues his first missionary journey. Leaving Athens Paul goes to Corinth and meets a man, Aquila, and his wife, Priscilla…who like Paul were also tent makers. Paul began to teach in the Synagogues. Silas and Timothy, once again join Paul, as Paul intensifies his preaching of the Gospel of Jesus to the Jewish people in Corinth. The Jews rejected Paul’s message and even began to blaspheme…so Paul told them that he would no longer share the Gospel with them, but would now focus on sharing with the Gentiles. A Gentile leader named Crispus believes the Gospel and is saved, along with many Gentiles in Corinth. The Lord affirmed to Paul the He was with him, and that the Lord would keep Paul safe. The Jews rose up to oppose Paul and attempted to have him arrested and tried for his words. They were trying to silence the Apostle. Today we have those who are active in trying to silence the Gospel and any voice for God. On social media there are those who hate God, His message, and Jesus as being the only way to heaven…they threaten to have any social media platform closed to Bible believing Christians. Some have even declared the need for the government to make churches pay taxes as a penalty for the church or the Pastor speaking truth into society. In Paul’s case a wise man named Gallio, the proconsul, told the Jews that it was not illegal for Paul to speak words. We will see if that holds true in our country…be careful of those who label your words “misinformation” or “hate speech”, it is their attempt to make any view other than their own illegal…the very definition of fascism. Keep speaking up…keep sharing truth…keep exalting the Name of Jesus!
Please share your thoughts.
