MAY 24 READING…ACTS 16
Paul decided that John Mark was not reliable, so they split up. Mark went with Barnabas…Paul with Silas. Soon Timothy joins Paul and Silas. God sends Paul a vision of a man pleading for them to come over and help them in Macedonia. When they came to Philippi they met a follower of God named Lydia, who when she heard of Jesus, believed and was baptized. She was a woman of extraordinary hospitality...and took care of the men of God by providing lodging for them. Paul and Silas cast the demon out of a girl who was making the merchants a lot of money…so they were thrown in jail after being beaten. At midnight, chained in their cell, they we’re singing praises to God, when an angel came and opened the doors and loosed the chains. When the jailer saw that they had escaped he was about to take his life, but Paul stopped him. Then Paul shared Jesus with the jailer, and then with the jailer’s family…they all trusted in Christ Jesus and were baptized. Every situation is an opportunity for God. We can shut down because we have been done wrong, or we can realize it’s not about us…it’s about our Jesus, and being able to share His wonderful Gospel in every situation.
