MAY 21 READING…1 SAMUEL 18-19 & PSALM 42-43 & 55
Ultimately, our only hope is found in God. Sadly, far too many times in this life we are put upon by those who are, or were, the closest to us. There is nothing worse than to someone close to us turn on us, and attack us. David knew this from Saul. Saul was filled with rage and jealousy because God had rejected him, and had chosen David. Even Saul’s own son, Jonathan, loved David and was more faithful to him than his own father. Saul turned on David, and tried to kill him with his own sword, and by sending messengers as assassins. In our readings in Psalm, David calls out to the Lord in both his persecution, and in his exile. David is now a fugitive, and has been marked for death by the king. But, the Lord has chosen David and has His hand on him. When God is our refuge there is no better or safer place. Though David was on the run, and he would have to hide, ultimately, he was very safe, because God was his protector. God had a plan for David, and no one, even a king, could stop God’s plan. God has a plan for you and me also…we need to rest in Him, for we are safe under His mighty hand.
