MAY 16 READING…ACTS 10
You have never met a person that did not deserve to hear the Gospel message. The initial view of who was supposed to receive the Gospel in the early church was that it was for the Jew only. Isn’t it both interesting and sad that today there are those who say that the Jews don’t need the Gospel, that they have their own way to heaven. The Bible makes it crystal clear that the only way to eternal life is through Jesus Christ…since that is true, everyone needs to hear the Gospel and have the opportunity to trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior. Peter was corrected by God when he thought that the Gentiles were too unclean and unworthy to receive the Gospel of Christ. God sent him a vision of all kinds of unclean animals…God told him to eat the meat…and Peter said he would not, because he did not eat unclean meat. God told Peter, don’t call anything unclean that I have declared clean. This was not about eating, this was about the Gospel. Peter was being told to go to whoever the Lord sends him, and share the Gospel with them…for everyone should have the opportunity for salvation. Jesus did not die for the Jew only…He did not die for the Gentile only…Jesus died for the world. So, He has commissioned us to go into the whole world and preach the Gospel to everyone. God used Peter, a reluctant evangelist, to open the hope of the Gospel to the Gentile nations…and today He has called us to share the hope of the Gospel to all people.
