MAY 10 READING…ACTS 6
Anytime you see God working…you can be certain that Satan is going to attack. He is the roaring lion seeking who he can devour. He hates you, and even more he hates God…his goal is to destroy. He destroys homes, marriages, friendships, churches, and nations. He is a liar, and the father of lies…his children are evident, for they too are liars. The church in Acts was growing with many thousands of people coming to faith in Jesus. Like any other group of people disputes rose up. Watch your flesh my brothers and sisters, for Satan loves to use it to bring division and hurt. The Lord led the Apostles to set aside some men as deacons to help take care of the needs of the people. These men needed to be godly men, filled with the Holy Spirit. Stephen was one of these men…he was definitely filled with the Holy Spirit. Some of those who were converts to Judaism began to dispute with Stephen, but because he was filled with the Holy Spirit, they could not resist him. These men caused trouble among the believers, and even accused Stephen of blasphemy. They brought Stephen before the council, and the countenance of the Lord was all over Stephen.
