MARCH 7 READING…NUMBERS 8-10 & 2 TIMOTHY 1
Today’s theme is that God always provides guidance for His people. To the Israelites in the book of Numbers as they traveled, God Himself would be their guide as He manifested Himself as a cloud. He would also use the silver trumpets to guide and direct His people. In 2 Timothy 1, God provided Paul to help guide Timothy, the young pastor, in the way of the Lord, and in leading the church. Of course, Timothy’s main Guide would be the Holy Spirit. Paul would encourage Timothy to follow the leadership and guidance of the Holy Spirit and not that of people…for Paul, himself, had been forsaken by those who were supposed to be there for him. We too are to trust in the Holy Spirit to be our Guide. God may put faithful believers in our lives, but they are not our primarily guides…that role belongs to the Holy Spirit. Jesus told His disciples that He would be leaving them, but they would not be abandoned…as He would sent the Holy Spirit to guide them into all truth. We have the Holy Spirit who is our Guide…trust Him implicitly, and follow Him wherever He leads…because wherever He leads is the best place for us.
