MARCH 4 READINGS…Numbers 16:1-18:32
Rebellion against God usually manifests itself by actions against both the things of God and the people who are genuinely following God. Don’t be mistaken this rebellion begins in the heart, and is certainly a heart problem. The heart that is not surrendered to God is in rebellion to God…and that rebellious heart will show itself in rebellious actions. Jesus spoke of this to the Pharisees…”
Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.”-Matthew 12:34. These Pharisees believed they were the ones speaking and leading people for God…they were like Korah who led the insurrection against Moses in the wilderness. In his Epistle, Jude, correlates the sin of rebellion with the name Korah. False accusers who declare their own self-righteousness, but in reality are “like brute beasts”.
Here is truth…the Lord will not be rebelled against! It is the fool that believes that somehow they can rebel against God with impunity. For Korah, Dathan, Abiram, and those that followed them, their rebellion brought the swift and severe punishment of God. The three with their families had the ground open up and swallow them alive…while the others were killed by the fire of God. You would think that such a display of power from God would be an effective warning to anyone desiring to rebel against God…but in our readings we see that the people learned nothing and attempted to rebel again. This rebellion ended with more than 14,000 dead from a plague, and only the action of Moses and Aaron saved any of them. God has made it clear that He will not tolerate rebellion…yet mankind has not listened, nor have they learned. Don’t be mistaken, this truth is still true…”It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”-Hebrews 10:31. I must warn us all…it’s time to come out from among the rebellious…its time to leave our lives of sin…it’s time to return to the Lord in fear and humility. Rebellion is destroying our homes, our churches, our nation, and our world. Very soon an individual will appear, and he will lead the world into full rebellion against the Lord…we are already primed for Antichrist’s arrival. The world will receive him…WILL YOU? Hear the words of warning from Jesus concerning the coming of the great rebellion, the one who will lead it, and the inclination of the rebellious nations to follow him…”I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive.”-John 5:43.
Please share your thoughts from today’s readings. Keep your heart tender toward God, and do not get caught up in the rebellious spirit of our age. Stop listening to the wrong voices…Oh people of God, HEAR THE WORD OF THE LORD!
