MARCH 26 READING…LUKE 18
How should we come before the Lord? Do we come to Him with a clean heart and clean hands? Do we come to Him without hatred in our hearts for others? Do we come before Him humble and without self-righteousness? Jesus taught us to come to the Father with clean hearts and hands, to have right relationships with others, and to approach Him humbly remembering that we are sinners saved by grace. In the parable of the Pharisee and the publican, when everything was said and done, it was the humble publican that was accepted by God, while the prideful pharisee was rejected. Luke then tells us that Jesus blesses the children because of the way that they come to God with their child-like faith and tells us that we need to do the same thing. The rich young ruler is offered a place in the kingdom of God, but sadly the price was more than he was willing to pay…this man made a poor bargain, he gave up that which was eternal valuable for that which was temporal. The Lord then shares with His disciples about His crucifixion and Resurrection. Finally, there was a man blind from birth, that the Lord gives him his sight. Bartimaeus then immediately goes out glorifying God and telling others what God had done. May we all do the same.
