MARCH 26 READING…NUMBERS 34 & JOHN 16
The theme of our reading today is that God establishes boundaries. He does this when it comes to nations and He does this when if comes to how an individual is to live their lives. In Numbers, God instructs Moses to tell the Israelite people the boundaries of their land as they enter the land of promise. The time of wandering was over, now God would establish boundaries for His people to dwell in. He not only gives the boundaries for the entire nation, but He instructs each tribe of the land appointed for them. In John 16, Jesus was concerned that His disciples, and we also, walk and live properly in this sin fallen world. He does not want us to live like the lost, or like the religious establishment. In order for us to know where and how we are to live, He has given us His Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will convict us of sin, for the purpose of repentance. He will reveal true righteousness, so we can know the way of the Lord. And, He will confirm the reality of God’s coming judgment. The Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth through the Word of God, and He will always glorify Jesus (make Him known). We need these boundaries in our lives, or we would wander around in hopelessness. Jesus is with His Father, but He has not left us alone to go our own way…He has given us the Holy Spirit in order for us to go God’s way.
