MARCH 21, 2023 ~ THEMATIC JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE

MARCH 21 READING…NUMBERS 29 & JOHN 11

Today’s theme is…” it’s all about Jesus”. It can be arguably said that the four feasts in yesterday’s reading were prophetic to Jesus’ first coming…and the three feasts from today’s reading are prophetic to Jesus’ second coming. All seven feasts given to Israel in the Old Testament Scriptures are not just celebrations for the nation, nor are they merely days of remembrance…they all point to the promised Messiah, in both His first and second advents. John 11, likewise, brings us to the place where we see that it is all about Jesus. As Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead He makes this important declaration…” I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me, though they may die, they shall live.” The crux of salvation is found in this statement…for Jesus then asks if they (we) believe. Do you see it? Jesus did not say that He will just raise up the dead, nor did He say He merely gives life. In this passage Jesus declares that He IS the resurrection, that He IS life! Once again Jesus is claiming things about Himself that only belong to God. So, either Jesus is a deceiver, a liar, or a lunatic…or He is God! For no one could possibly claim these things, and bring them about, other than God Himself. These claims further enraged the religious leaders, for once again Jesus spoke outside of their limited box of religiosity. If they had known their own Scriptures, they would have known that the Messiah was God…and that He can claim all things that belong to God. They did not understand the Scriptures, so they would miss Messiah. I hope you all see the reality of Jesus throughout the Scriptures…for what a tragedy for anyone reading this to again miss the Messiah…Jesus.

Please share your thoughts.
