MARCH 20 READING…LUKE 14
Jesus offends the religious leaders by clarifying the true meaning and practice of the Sabbath. Jesus shares a parable about reaching beyond those who already belong and invite the poor, the sick, and the blind. We are called to reach out to those who are not already part of what we are blessed with. Then Jesus tells a parable of a great supper. It speaks of a genuine invitation to a certain group of people, but they reject the invitation of the giver of the feast. The giver of the feast then extends the invitation to those who had not originally been invited. Sadly, those who should have been at the feast, would now miss the feast they should have been at. Finally, Jesus speaks again about the importance and cost of discipleship. He warns us to count the cost of following Jesus…we need to understand what it will cost, in order that we are able finish what we have started. Jesus has called us to hear and heed His words.
Please share your thoughts.
