JUNE 9 READING…1 KINGS 4-5 & 1 CORINTHIANS 6
Solomon is becoming well established as king. His wisdom is allowing him to become very rich. He has diversified his leadership, and it has caused the nation to grow and prosper. He takes advantage of his father’s good relationship with Hiram king of Tyre and begins to make preparations to build the Temple. The thing to note in this passage is that clearly the hand of the Lord is on Solomon. The Lord has chosen to bless Solomon in a great way, we shall see what Solomon does with the Lord’s blessings. We all have a choice when God showers us with blessings…we can use them for His glory, or we can squander them. In 1 Corinthians, Paul tells us not to take another Christian in to a secular court, but to be mature in our faith and let the godly judge the situation. He goes on to tell us to keep the body clean, and refrain from sexual immorality. Paul raises the sin of sexual immorality above other sins, in that it is an attack on the “temple of God”. Our body is where the Holy Spirit dwells, and we belong to the Lord…not to our ungodly sexual desires.
