JUNE 4 READING…ACTS 23
Paul knew two things for certain. First, he knew God had a call upon his life. The Lord told Paul that He had a call on his life and that Paul would complete that which God had called him to. The second thing Paul knew if that if God has a plan, God would fulfill that plan. Though there were those, with every good intent, who were telling Paul that he should stay away from Jerusalem, for there were those who were going to kill him. The Lord told Paul that not only would he get to preach the Gospel in Jerusalem, but he would also go to Rome to share the Gospel. And it would be in Rome that God would use Paul to write most of the New Testament instruction to the church. The Jews hated Paul so much that they actually took oaths to kill him. The word got out about their plan to kill Paul and measures were taken to assure his safe passage to Caesarea in order to start his voyage to Rome. The message of the Gospel was about to expand to new areas, starting with Roman governor in Caesarea, Felix. The Lord has a call upon our lives also…and anything He has called us to He will provide all that is needed. Despite threats or opposition, God will accomplish His great purpose, just as He has declared. We ought not to be motivated or paralyzed by fear of opposition…we need to trust the call of God, and finish the assignment of God by the provision and power of God.
