JUNE 3 READING…ACTS 21

When the Holy Spirit is at work He gives guidance in the lives of the followers of God. We read yesterday that the Holy Spirit had warned Paul what was waiting for him in Jerusalem…he knew he had to go anyway. In today’s reading as Paul is headed to Jerusalem he stopped in Tyre and stayed with some disciples for seven days. They too were shown by the Spirit about what was going to happen in Jerusalem, and warned Paul not to go. Paul left there for Caesarea, where a man named Agabus came and showed him that he would be bound and killed in Jerusalem…Paul said he was ready for whatever the will of the Lord was concerning him.

Paul arrived in Jerusalem and went in to meet with James, where Paul shared what the Lord was doing among the Gentiles. The report caused the Jerusalem council to rejoice and praise God. Paul joined four other believers who had purified themselves in order to go into the Temple. When they were there some Jews recognized him, and began to stir up trouble. They accused Paul of teaching people to reject their Jewish roots, and unlawfully bringing Gentiles into the Temple. They caused the people to riot, and then went and accused Paul of causing the riot to the proconsul. The commander arrested Paul, but when he found out that Paul was a Jew,and a citizen…he allowed him to speak. Paul knew what was waiting for him in Jerusalem, and he went anyway…why? Because he believed that was what the Lord had called him to do…it was that simple for Paul…it should be that simple for us.

Please share your thoughts from today’s reading.
