JUNE 27 READING…ROMANS 12
We are called to be completely different from the world. When the world stands against our beliefs and speak out against what we teach, that is a good thing. What would be of great concern is if we were accepted and celebrated by this ungodly world. Paul tells us to present ourselves as living sacrifices to God. This sounds like an oxymoron…because a sacrifice speaks of death. That is what he is calling us to…die to self, that you may have life in Christ. What is required to do this is to not be conformed to this world, but we are to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. In other words that we feed our minds with God’s truth, rather than the corrupt perversions of this world. In doing this we ought to be careful to lift up Jesus, and not ourselves. We don’t live in pride…but we walk in humility. Humility does not speak of being weak, but of being filled with the strength of the Holy Spirit, rather than walking in our own power. The Lord has made us His body, and as His body we have many different parts…yet all of the parts make up the whole, and the head of the body is Jesus. We are to walk in what the Holy Spirit has made us and has given us. We are also to support the rest of the body, for a body is healthy when all its parts are working properly. Finally, we are not to overcome evil with evil, but with the truth of God…doing our best to pull as many out of the fire as possible.
Please share your thoughts.
