JUNE 27 READING…2 KINGS 7-8 & MARK 8
We all would like it if every message that comes from the Lord was positive, and what we consider uplifting. Because the word of the Lord is always true, it has to speak honestly concerning the impact of our sin to us and to others. I have had people leave the church where I pastored because they felt that I was too negative…and maybe I was. I am not sure how to live in the ungodly time we are in without calling out a biblical warning that God is not going to be mocked, and that there is a judgment coming. In 2 Kings, Elisha the Prophet, weeps because he has been given clear information from the Lord concerning the evil Hazael when he becomes the king of Syria. Hazael pleads both innocence and ignorance to what Elisha is saying, and the very next day he assassinates the king of Syria, and takes the throne…setting up the great evil he would do against the nation of Israel. In Mark 8, we have the confession of Peter concerning who Jesus is. Certainly, this truth would be both welcome and positive. Yet, it is not! This statement is opposed on every side…by the secular world, and their humanist philosophies, to the religious deadheads of every generation, who refused to acknowledge the Lordship and the very Deity of Jesus. Biblical Christian, by its nature, stands against every so-called religious system. Some want to say that all religious expressions are equally valid. A biblical Christian cannot say that. There is only one Way to God…Jesus! There is only one who is the Truth…Jesus! There is only one who is Life…Jesus! This should be good news. Sadly, because we live in a world turned upside down…even this wonderful truth is seen as negative, hateful, and intolerant.
Please share your thoughts.
