JUNE 24 READING…ROMANS 9
How much do we care that others might have the opportunity of salvation? Are we willing to suffer being maligned and misunderstood? Are we willing to be vilified and lied about? Are we willing to be erased and treated as persona non grata? Is another people’s salvation more important than ours? These are hard questions…but the answer to these questions were how Paul lived his life for Christ. Paul loved his Jewish brothers and sisters, and his great hope and desire was that they would come to the place that they would trust in their Messiah, Jesus. Paul reminds us though that there is no such thing as group salvation or salvation due to nationality or ethnic identity. The true Jews were those who had received their Messiah…so it was the desire of Paul’s heart to be able to share the Gospel with his brothers and sisters from an ethnic standing, because he loved them and wanted them to be saved. How much do we love the lost? We have been silenced by the philosophy that we are to keep our “religion” to ourselves…and if you love people you will let them do and live anyway, they want…the message is acceptance, tolerance, and celebration. What good parent would use this approach with their own children? I know there are some who do, but I said “good” parent. Because we love our kids we correct them, we teach them, and we lead them to what is best for them. We need to have this same approach as we have the opportunity to share Christ with the lost all around us. We certainly cannot make them believe, but we need to give them the opportunity to believe. Salvation is always between the individual and God. God knows who will and will not believe, but we are not privy to the information…so we are called to share with all people. Love requires we stand in the truth…love requires we share the truth…and love requires that we would be willing to pay the price for the truth.
Please share your thoughts.
