JUNE 23 READING…2 KINGS 2-3 & MARK 4
Elisha becomes God’s prophet in Israel. Elijah does not see death, but instead the Lord has a fiery chariot come down from heaven and sweep him up, taking him directly to the Lord. God has called his man home…and God has put his new man in the place he wants him. I believe this is how God works. And if anyone is concerned that the Israelites would have less of a prophet, the Lord makes is so Elisha would have a double portion of Elijah’s spirit. We have a God of love and mercy, always ready to give and do more than we can even imagine. In Mark, Jesus tells us in a parable how the Lord works. He speaks of a sower who goes out sowing the seed, and the seed falls on four types of ground. Depending one what the ground is like determines what happens to the seed. This parable is speaking about our hearts when the Holy Spirit sows the seed of the gospel. Some hearts are hard toward God…some hearts are shallow toward God…some hearts are more concerned with being busy with the things of this world…and then some hearts are very receptive, desiring the things of God. The Holy Spirit continues to sow the seed of the Word of God in our lives…may our hearts stay open, desiring the things of God.
Please share your thoughts.
