JUNE 20 READING…ROMANS 7
Have you ever struggled in your walk of faith? Have you ever found yourself doing what you knew was a sin, hating that sin in your life, yet you continued to struggle with doing what was right? If so, you are in good company. The Apostle Paul struggled with all of this. As we think of the sanctification process that the Holy Spirit works in us, hopefully we understand that He is working in us to move us toward the perfection found in Jesus. We are not there yet…as a matter of fact, we will spend our whole lives under the work of the Holy Spirit in making us like Jesus. There is no one that has reached sinless perfection this side of heaven. Jesus was the only sinless One. For we believers, though we are well aware of our short comings, and propensity to sin, we never accept them. We hate our sin, because our hearts have been changed by the Holy Spirit. What we want, because He lives in us, is to walk in righteousness, to refrain from sin, and to live lives that testify in a good way that Jesus is our Lord. We have to daily, even hourly, stay surrendered to the Holy Spirit, so that our actions reflect the holiness of God rather than the carnality of the flesh. We are so blessed that the Holy Spirit lives in us to produce the good fruit that comes from a life surrendered to God. We can never settle for sin in our lives…we cannot use the excuse of merely being human…we have God the Holy Spirit living in us doing His supernatural work in and through us.
Please share your thoughts.
