JUNE 18, 2024 ~ A WALK THROUGH THE NEW TESTAMENT

JUNE 18 READING…ROMANS 5

Sometimes it is good to stop and take an inventory of the great blessings we have from God as those who have believed in Jesus. I am not talking about the daily blessings we have, though those are wonderful. I am talking about the eternal blessings we have with God through Jesus. Paul reminds us of some of these eternal blessings. He says we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Can you imagine, we who were estranged and at enmity with God, now have peace with Him. This peace is not just for a lifetime, but for eternity. This eternal peace grants us access into the presence of God, where will experience His glory forever. In Christ we also can have joy in times of tribulation. Trouble is going to happen, and it will especially happen to us as we follow Jesus. The Bible does not promise us to be happy, but it promises us joy. Joy is not the absence of trouble…it is the presence of Christ in the midst of tribulation. He gives us a calmness, and an assurance that ultimately everything is going to be alright. The Lord Jesus gives us rescue from the wrath of God. God is just and holy…that being the case He must punish all sin and unholiness. Either Jesus has faced the judgment on the cross, or a person will have to fact that judgment on their own. Christ’s imputed righteousness frees us from the condemnation we deserve because of our sin against God. You see, God is not only just and holy, He is gracious and forgiving…but He will only forgive us through His Son Jesus. There is no other way of forgiveness.

Please share your thoughts.
