JUNE 11 READING…1 KINGS 7 & 1 CORINTHIANS 8
Solomon not only built the Temple proper, he build what consisted of the whole Temple complex. This sat on the Temple mound. He again spared no expense in this building project…it became a place where even those who did not follow God would come to see. Solomon did this in honor of God, but somehow, sadly, the honor for all this would be more about Solomon than God. This can happen to all of us as we attempt to spend our lives honoring God. We must be careful to keep all things about Him. In Corinthians we are told to be careful to avoid doing things that would cause another believer to stumble. We should refrain from things we can do, things that are not sins, but may harm another’s conscience. We may be at liberty to do them, but if they cause another believer to stumble, and we know this would happen, we are to refrain. Because, it is not about our glory, but the Lord’s…and we are to esteem others more highly than we do ourselves.
