JULY 9 READING…PSALM 45 & SONG OF SOLOMON 1-6
Today’s reading is from the books of poetry in the Old Testament. They speak of intimacy, using real life relationships to speak of the intimacy we are to have with the Lord. Mankind is okay with religion, but the Bible calls us to an intimate relationship with God through His Son, Jesus. God calls us to know Him, to walk with Him, and to love Him, as He has loved us. The psalmist reminds us that God is our Father…the Apostle Paul reminded us of the same thing in the book of Romans. It is true that God is the Creator, that He is God Almighty, and we must never forget that…but He is also our Father, who genuinely loves us. God is in control of all the universe…He is sovereign, and His throne sets above the heavens. Yet, He has called us to an intimate relationship with Himself. The Song of Solomon is an Old Testament allegory that gives us a picture of what Paul talked about in Ephesians 5, when he talks about the church being the bride of Christ. I hope you see how wonderful it is that God created us to walk, and live in intimacy, with Christ.
