JULY 30 READING…1 CHRONICLES 19-20 & LUKE 18
Those who seek the Lord, and trust in Him, will have victory…it’s guaranteed. David attempted to honor the king of Ammon when his father died…rather than receive David’s gift intended to bring comfort, the king humiliated David’s men. This act led to a war, which involved not only Ammon, but also neighboring countries. David sought the Lord, and waited on His answer, before entering into a war with the king of Ammon and their allies. God promised and gave David victory over his adversaries. In Luke, Jesus speaks of the persistent woman before the judge, who finally receives her request. Jesus in this parable teaches us about being persistent and consistent in prayer. In contrast we have the rich young ruler who was not willing to do what the Lord commanded, and therefore he missed the victory of eternal life. Jesus promises to reward those who give their all to God…much in the same way the Lord gave David victory because of a heart sold out to God. Finally, we have a blind man named Bartimaeus who refused to be silenced, but rather, wanted to see the victory of Jesus over his blindness. If you are a child of God, you have been promised victory…sometimes it will happen in this life, but it is guaranteed to happen in eternity.
