JULY 29 READING…2 CORINTHIANS 2
Opposition is a reality for us if we would follow Jesus. The question is how do we perceive and respond to this opposition? We can let opposition paralyze us, or we can let it motivate us. Those who hate the Lord have no boundaries on their scurrilous attacks…and the reason they attack so vehemently is that they are trying to get us to shut down. Paul experienced this from those who stood against him in the church at Corinth. Remember who these people were…they were false teachers who came in the church and tried to take over, all the while attacking Paul and his Apostleship. There is a truism that we need to remember…we are known by those who stand with us, and we are known by those who stand against us. It is more than okay to have some as our enemies. We need to follow Paul’s example and remember that these people actually are not standing against us personally…but are standing against the Lord. So, Paul is willing to forgive these who attacked him personally, and trust the Lord to deal with them. These people are fighting a battle they cannot win…Christ already has won the victory. We just need to stand in Christ…carry on in our God-given mission…and never let opposition silence or paralyze us. We are to follow our Jesus without compromise or fear.
