JULY 26 READING…2 CORINTHIANS 1
Since Paul’s first letter to the church at Corinth false teachers have invaded the church. They came in attacking Paul’s position as an Apostle. They began to tear away the foundation of truth upon which the church was founded. The people were suffering, but these false teachers had no care for the church…they were just concerned about their positions. Paul encouraged the church to stay focused on Jesus and to follow Him…hanging on to the truth. There certain would be suffering for being followers of Christ, this was true then and remains true today at one level or another. But Jesus was theirs, and our, only hope. The Lord is faithful to deliver His own…sometimes in this world, but certainly in eternity. Paul reminds them of the truth that was preached among them…he points them to faithful teachers in contrast to the false ones. And then he reminds them that with all the false promises and apostate teachings of these false teachers that Jesus is the only way. Paul says, “For all the promises of God in Him(Jesus) are Yes, and in Him(Jesus) Amen, to the glory of God through us.” Isn’t that great truth? Thank you Lord Jesus that You are all we need!
