JULY 21 READING… 1 CHRONICLES 7 & LUKE 9
In Chronicles 7 we finish the general genealogies of the remainder of the tribes of Israel. From here the Chronicles will deal with the kings of Judah and Israel. This book reminds us that God has His hand on human history. He is no some “deistic” god who just got everything started, and then took His hands off and let it all happen. He is THE God of the universe, who is personally involved and active in His creation. We can have comfort and hope, because He continues to be active and involved in our lives. In Luke we continue to read how the Lord is actively involved in human affairs through the life and ministry of Jesus. Jesus did great miracles, like feeding the 5000…He did this because as Peter confesses, Jesus is, “THE Christ of God”. Jesus knows what He is about to go through in His death and Resurrection. He is revealed by His Father on the Mount of Transfiguration. He continues to heal and teach. And, then He declares the high price that is paid for anyone who would genuinely be His disciple. I would say, in comparison to eternity, there is no price too high, that we would ever pay, for the privilege of being a follower of Jesus.
