JULY 20 READING…1 CHRONICLES 6 & LUKE 8
In 1 Chronicles we are told of the descendants of Levi, the priestly tribe. Specifically out of the tribe of Levi was the line of Aaron…this was supposed to be the line of the High Priest of Israel. By the time we come to Jesus’ earthly ministry there were two men, Caiaphas and Anna’s, who were not of the line of Aaron, and therefore illegitimate high priests. Interesting, an illegitimate high priest held an illegal trial, and had his own Messiah put to death…corruption at its highest levels. In Luke we are told of the women who followed Jesus…much like the precious ladies who have followed Him through the centuries. They served, they taught the children, they ministered to the needy, and they have supported the work of Christ. I am so grateful for the faithful ladies who taught me about Jesus when I was a child…and for those who love Jesus so much, they supported their pastor through the years. Jesus shares a couple of parables about the kingdom of God. He miraculously calms the storm on the Sea of Galilee. Then He cast out many demons from a man…and a lady who had an issue of blood, touch Jesus’ hem and she was immediately healed. Jesus was and is so different from the religious leaders…those who seek their own power and position. Jesus served the genuine needs of the people He encountered…any genuine follower of His will do the same.
